Week In Review

Over the last few weeks we have been working hard to develop a classroom plan to reach our school wide goals. As a school we have set two goals for this school year...

100% of students will be "on track" in reading by the end of the year.
100% of students will give and receive random acts of kindness.

The Gumballs and I have decided our action steps to reach these goals will be tracking reading minutes and 2 "focus" kindness acts each month. Take a look at the data we've collected so far.

News & Notes:

  • Field Day is coming up! Field Day will be on Friday, September 30th. 
    • Students will eat lunch in the classroom on this day. The cafeteria is serving crackers & cheese, apple sauce, rice crispies and a milk/juice. Feel free to pack a sack lunch on this day.
  • Be sure to check the calendar on the blog for important dates.
  • Heads Up! There is a day coming up that I will be out of the classroom.  
    • September 30th - Mrs. Davis will be out guest teacher.
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Sign up for your spot by clicking HERE.
  • Dr. Hackworth is organizing our another Pretzel Sale! Pretzels will cost $1. Students can place their order October 11th - 13th. Pretzels will be delivered to classrooms on October 14th.
  • Missouri Day will be on October 19th. Please contact Jennifer Darrough if you're able to volunteer.

We had a great week in 4th grade. We were excited to welcome our J.A. in a Day guests from Panera Bread. We enjoyed learning all about economics, opening and running a business.

  • THANK YOU to everyone who placed book orders! You helped us earn 12 new books for our classroom library. We also earned coupons for FREE books for every student in our classroom. Those will be coming home with the next book order in September.
  • Mrs. Zimmerman is working to gather families to participate in the Manchester Parade on September 10th. Students and families are needed to represent Barretts on our parade float! Information is coming home in backpacks tonight.
  • Students should be sharing their Student Planner with you each night. This is where they should record their reading minutes. Any other homework will also be communicated via Student Planners.
